As one of the biggest football clubs in the world, Liverpool have had their fair share of legends and cult heroes over the decades.
Even during times when Liverpool weren’t quite at their best, there have been players who became fan favourites for providing many moments of quality.
Luis Suarez was one such player. During his time at Anfield, Liverpool weren’t as good as they are now, but he is still remembered fondly by many of the club’s fans.
Charlie Adam, one of Suarez’s teammates at the time, has lifted the lid on what the Uruguayan was like in training, speaking about his intensity.
He even spoke of how he and another Liverpool player at the time would “kick lumps out of each other” and it was just part of their respective games.

Luis Suarez and Jamie Carragher used to ‘kick lumps out of each other’ in Liverpool training
Adam, speaking on the No Tippy Tappy podcast, named Suarez among the best teammates he has had.
The former Liverpool midfielder spoke of how relentless Suarez was in training and how Jamie Carragher would be just as intense.
“I’ve never seen a guy like him on a daily basis,” Adam said.
“Training was – horrible is a bad word, but just demanding, wanted to be the best, mess people around.
“Every day, he played the way he trained, he was like a school kid in a playground.
“I’ve seen him and Carragher kick lumps at each other on a Friday like, ridiculous, and it was just ‘get on with it’, he’d just get on with it.
“He’d leave one on Carragher, Carragher would leave one back on him. But then he’d take it to Saturday.”
Adam also spoke of how Suarez would not want to be rested after returning from international games in South America.
“He’d go and play for Uruguay, he turned back up training Friday morning because of flights and different things,” said Adam.
“When I was there, I remember at the time there was a lot of South Americans from… in Liverpool but they were at Man City, there was other clubs, and they’d share a private jet coming back together.
“So they’d all fly back and he’d train on a Friday morning, said ‘no no no no, I’m I want to play on the Saturday… it’s just relentless what he did.”
