Can this group get the job done vs. Italy?
German national team boss Julian Nagelsmann made his latest roster decisions and called up four Bayern Munich players among his group that will face Italy in the UEFA National League quarterfinals.
The four Bavarians are as follows:
- Joshua Kimmich
- Leon Goretzka
- Jamal Musiala
- Leroy Sané
Other Bayern Munich-related players who made the cut include:
- Alexander Nübel (on loan with VfB Stuttgart)
- Angelo Stiller (former Bayern Munich academy player)

Some quick analysis:
- With so many injuries (and illnesses) there was room for Nagelsmann to mix things up (despite him saying that he was not going to get too wild). Goretzka, Karim Adeyemi, Nadiem Amiri, and Jonathan Burkhardt were some of the names who made returns, while Yann Aurel Bisseck earned his first selection.
- Kimmich is listed under the defenders, which means he is likely going to play right-back.
- The center-forward position is the least experienced group, but will likely be vital against Italy given the absence of attacking midfielder / wide forward Florian Wirtz, who contributed a lot to the team’s offensive creativity and production.
- Nübel might get his chance to run with a starting job if things go as planned.
- Given Serge Gnabry’s lack of consistent playing time and uneven performances, it was not a shock to see him dropped.
