Well done, Upa and Co.
Bayern Munich’s 2-0 victory in the Champions League over Bayer Leverkusen saw the team complete a comfortable 5-0 aggregate victory over their Bundesliga rivals. It was a win founded on keeping their opponents out through good defending, then wearing them out before striking quickly, with Harry Kane and Alphonso Davies scoring the goals.
In a sense, it was very much the opposite of the 3-2 loss to VfL Bochum on the weekend. The defending was certainly a lot more solid today. And Dayot Upamecano, who was given a 90 minute breather in that match, acknowledged the defending with great pride:
“It was a very good game from us. We defended very well together, we scored goals – I’m happy with the result,” the French center back declared after the match, captured by @iMiaSanMia.
The result in question leads Bayern to the quarterfinals, where they will face Inter Milan. When asked about the upcoming tie, Upamecano knows that it is too early to talk about the Italian champions.
“Inter? Now I’m only thinking about the Bundesliga; it’s very important for us to win at Union Berlin,” he continued. “What happens next isn’t important right now.”
