Joshua Kimmich has committed his future to Bayern Munich, revealing that continuity with the club is key to his pursuit of further triumphs.
The German midfielder’s contract was nearing its end, sparking rumours about a potential move, with Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Newcastle United and Liverpool mentioned as possible destinations. However, Kimmich has penned a new deal that will see him stay at the Allianz Stadium until 2029, thereby ending much speculation about his future.
The 30-year-old remains a pivotal figure for Vincent Kompany’s team this term, contributing significantly to their Champions League quarter-final berth and cementing their lead atop the Bundesliga. The versatile ace has clocked in 39 appearances this season and is a consistent feature in the Belgian manager’s game plan.
Since transferring to Bayern from RB Leipzig in 2015, Kimmich has stayed loyal to the Bavarian powerhouse, viewing it as the vehicle to fulfill his career ambitions. He extolled his teammates and the nurturing atmosphere at the club, stating, “At FC Bayern, I have the best environment to achieve my sporting goals,” he articulated.
“I made my decision based on that. There’s currently no better package of teammates, coaching staff, and club environment for me to achieve maximum success. I feel comfortable here, and I’m not finished yet.”
Bayern Munich’s leadership shares the sentiment, with CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen expressing, “We are delighted that Joshua Kimmich is continuing his career at FC Bayern.
“He’s someone who always leads the way, whether at the club or as DFB captain. His hunger is undiminished, as was evident again in the Champions League round of 16. His determination and commitment embody what FC Bayern stands for. He should build a bridge between our current generation and a new era.”

Kimmich joins the likes of Manuel Neuer, Jamal Musiala, and Alphonso Davies in committing his future to Bayern by extending his contract.
