A few days on from seeing their Champions League hopes crash and burn, Liverpool can sip the perfect tonic by beating Newcastle United at Wembley in Sunday’s EFL Cup final.
The Reds are bidding to win the crown in back-to-back years after downing Chelsea in the 2023-24 edition and booked their trip to the showpiece with a 4-1 aggregate thumping of Tottenham Hotspur in the semi-finals.
However, Arne Slot‘s side will not be ending the season with a terrific treble, having suffered Champions League heartache at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in Tuesday’s last-16 second leg.
Here, Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool’s latest injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with Newcastle, who bested Arsenal in the semi-finals and will endeavour to end a trophy drought stretching back almost 70 years this weekend.

Trent Alexander-Arnold awkwardly jarred his leg in the second half of the midweek defeat to PSG, leading to fears that he may have played his last game in a Liverpool shirt if he has suffered a severe knee or ankle injury.
Slot has insisted that it is too soon to know how severe Alexander-Arnold’s problem is, but it would be a surprise to see him involved in the EFL Cup final.
