Will this wind up being Guerreiro’s final season with the German Rekordmeister?
In the background of Bayern Munich’s push to claim both the Bundesliga and Champions League title in Vincent Kompany’s first season in charge of the club, there has been a great deal of activity with regards to squad planning. Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala have been tied down to new deals in addition to both Jonas Urbig being brought in during the winter transfer. Joshua Kimmich is also on the brink of signing a new, long-term deal with the German Rekordmeister, which would complete the trio of key contracts that the club’s front office needed to tackle.
The squad planning spearheaded by Max Eberl and Christoph Freund continues even with the Davies, Musiala, and Kimmich deals out of the way — they still need to plan for the future. Heading into this summer’s transfer window, left back and midfielder Raphaël Guerreiro has been identified as a potential candidate for sale, as per SportBild (via @iMiaSanMia_GER).

At the left back position, Davies is understood to be the nailed on starter and there is also the matter of Adam Aznou returning to the club after his loan spell with Real Valladolid is up at the end of this season. He could, in theory, act as the backup left back for Davies from next season onward and Kompany also already has Hiroki Ito, who can play left back in addition to center back, as he has already done since returning from his long-term injury.
Barcelona is also said to be expressing interest in trying to sign Aznou after his loan spell at Vallodolid, which could certainly change Bayern’s stance on Guerreiro. If Aznou winds up getting sold or loaned out again, it could be in the club’s best interest to keep Guerreiro in the squad, especially given his versatility to also play midfield.
His current contract at Bayern runs through June 2026, so this summer’s transfer window would, in theory, be the last period where they could wind up collecting a decent transfer fee for the Portuguese international.
