While Augsburg celebrated a victory which keeps their hopes of qualifying for Europe alive, Dahmen had an additional reason to smile, after moving alongside the likes of Manuel Neuer and Oliver Kahn in the all-time charts thanks to going 613 minutes without letting in a single goal, including six consecutive clean sheets.
“We’re delighted because going ten games without defeat is an incredible feat for Augsburg,” Dahmen said afterwards. “It’s a lot of fun and we’re on a really strong run at the minute. Just like we have in recent weeks, we defended well once again today. Wolfsburg are a strong team and we managed to find good ways of getting past them.
“There were a few times where we needed to be alert, but we deservedly won and kept a clean sheet – as long as we manage that, then we know that one goal will be enough to win.”
