The manager certainly is well-liked by the players.
Vincent Kompany faced a huge task in taking the job as head coach at Bayern Munich and succeeding. Given his short career prior to the appointment, the fact that he was far from Bayern’s first choice coach and that he was comfortably relegated from the Premier League with Burnley (I bet you’re not sick of hearing of that one), there were multiple reasons for people to be skeptical about the Belgian’s appointment in Munich. The media would be on him like dogs. The fans would need time to warm up to such a risky appointment.
But first and foremost, it was imperative to convince the players that he was the right guy.
Fortunately, it seems that he has done just that. Not only has the perennially controversial newspaper Bild reported that the players all really like him, multiple players have publicly mentioned him as a reason to renew their contract and stay at the club.
One of those players, Alphonso Davies, continued to heap praise on Kompany: “Vincent is a top coach. He knows the game inside and out,” the Canadian star said, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “He was a top player himself and has a lot of experience. We can learn a lot from him.”
Given how things are currently going, the players will be able to learn from Kompany for quite a while.
