AC Milan have reportedly already reached a decision over the long-term future of Chelsea loanee Joao Felix.

Despite only arriving at Stamford Bridge on a permanent deal last summer, it became apparent in January that Felix was eager to secure a move elsewhere.

The arrival of Sergio Conceicao at San Siro led to the newly-appointed head coach moving for his Portuguese compatriot at a time when Milan were desperate to kick-start their campaign.

As such, Milan allegedly paid a £5m loan fee with the understanding that a permanent deal could be negotiated if it suited all parties.

According to Calciomercato, Milan officials already know whether they will be looking to keep the playmaker at the club.

What is Milan’s decision on Felix?

The report claims that Milan will not be pushing to sign the Portugal international on a full-time basis courtesy of his below-par impact.

Although the 25-year-old marked his arrival in Milan with a classy finish in a Coppa Italia tie with Roma, he has failed to build on that contribution.

In a further six starts and two substitute outings, Felix has not chipped in with a goal or assist, with Milan having also been eliminated from the Champions League.

As far as the Serie A table is concerned, Milan are all the way down in ninth position, seven points adrift of fifth place.

Even if Milan did want to sign Felix on a permanent basis, it would realistically not be financially viable if they do not qualify for the Champions League.

Where does this leave Chelsea?

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca may not be against reintegrating Felix back into the senior fold during the summer, yet Felix is aware that he is unlikely to ever be viewed as first choice.

Furthermore, the current plan is for Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez to link up with the Chelsea first-team squad from July onwards.

Co-owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital may, therefore, assess their options when it comes to finding Felix a new club, another loan exit a distinct possibility given the finances that would need to be involved to facilitate a sale.
