It’s time to sign another defender in Bavaria.
What’s next at center-back for Bayern Munich?
With Eric Dier looking like he could be on the way out, the Bavarians are in need of another full-time center-back to complement Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae — that’s despite the availability of full-backs Hiroki Itō and Josip Stanišić to fill in if needed.
But while Dier has been a bargain and a revelation at Bayern, the purse strings may need to open for the next guy.
Via Sky Sport DE journalist Florian Plettenberg as captured by @iMiaSanMia:
Max Eberl is still keeping an eye on Castello Lukeba, whom he signed for RB Leipzig in 2023. Bayern have an interest in the Frenchman, but Lukeba has a very high release clause (€90m in 2025, €80m in 2026, €65m in 2027) [@Plettigoal, @SkySportNews]
Or…maybe this is all much ado about nothing. Bayern is reportedly storing up for Florian Wirtz like a chipmunk ahead of winter and a release clause like Lukeba has should be a straight deal-breaker.
Right?
