Hey, at least it wasn’t a loss

Bayern Munich slipped up a bit after a 1-1 draw with Union Berlin. The Bavarians were rather wasteful in their opportunities and paid the price after a Jonas Urbig howler let in Die Eisernen to grab a late equalizer. Vincent Kompany said after the match that it wasn’t his team’s day and that Union waited for the right moment.

“It was a game of two stories,” Kompany began (via @iMiaSanMia). “There’s the performance and there’s the result. When we don’t take three points, we’re disappointed with the result, that’s very simple. But I’ve been in football long enough to know that this wasn’t a bad performance away from home. We took away the danger for a very long time. We were patient, in the second half we increased the danger and were more precise. I would’ve been very happy with the performance and the result [if it had stayed 1-0], but in the end credit to the opponent, they fought, had one moment and took it to their advantage.”

Bayern take on St. Pauli at home after the international break, followed by an away trip to Augsburg before the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals against Inter Milan.
