It was fitting that George Graham was spotted at the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal beat Chelsea 1-0 on Sunday, a scoreline that was a regular occurrence during his time as the Gunners boss.
Mikel Merino scored the one and only goal for Arsenal as they defeated Chelsea in relatively comfortable fashion.
Perhaps Mikel Arteta’s one and only complaint could well be that that his side did not win more comfortably against their London rivals. But the Spaniard will be content about the hosts’ dominance as they cruised past Enzo Maresca’s side.
Arsenal fans will delighted with Jurrien Timber’s display in particular, who they felt was the best player on the pitch against Chelsea.
Arsenal fans hail Jurrien Timber after latest win vs Chelsea
One Arsenal fan sang Timber’s praises after his side’s latest victory against Chelsea, simply writing: “Jurrien Timber, my Man of the Match.”
A second Arsenal fan hailed Timber’s excellent performance at the back against Chelsea as well, stating: “Jurrien Timber, MOTM, hands down. Defensively outstanding yet again. Backs up the press so well, by not allowing his marker to escape. Dealt with all the aerial balls that were threatening in behind within his vicinity too. Another 8/10 performance.”
A third supporter stated that the Dutchman has a claim for being his side’s best player in the second half of the season: “Thought Timber and Gabriel [Magalhaes] were exceptional today. Unsurprising, really. Think those two are probably the candidates for our player of the season. I’d vote for [Bukayo] Saka for his first half of the season alone if I’m honest, but hey. Good game from [Declan] Rice as well.”
A fourth Arsenal fan added: “Timber has been our best player, top-quality performance from him today.”
A fifth Arsenal fan went as far as to claim that Timber has been the best right-back in the Premier League after his latest heroics against Chelsea: “Jurrien Timber has genuinely been the best RB in the league this season, faultless and excellent every time he plays.”
Finally, a sixth fan simply wrote: “Timber is unbelievable. We’re so blessed with our full-backs honestly.”
Jurrien Timber stats for Arsenal vs Chelsea
It is hard to disagree with the aforementioned Arsenal fans about how impressive Timber was against Chelsea.
On and off the ball, the former Ajax technician was faultless and in reality, he has quietly been one of his side’s most consistent players this season.
The statistics reflect how well Timber played against Chelsea as well.
