Arsenal have added £37m striker who is top scorer in his league to their list of targets – Report

Arsenal have ‘well positioned’ themselves to land one of Europe’s top strikers this summer as Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta look to bring in an elite goal scorer.

Andrea Berta is being tasked with finding a striker who can take Arsenal to the next level with the Gunners having been short of firepower this season.

Mikel Arteta has gone the last two seasons with Kai Havertz as his number nine and whilst the German has produced some big moments for the North London club, it’s clear a world class forward is required.

Now, Arsenal are assessing their options ahead of the next transfer window and have just added one of Italy’s most potent strikers to their list of targets.

Mateo Retegui is ‘well placed’ on Arsenal list of striker targets

Atalanta forward Mateo Retegui is ‘well placed’ on Arsenal and Chelsea’s list of striker targets for the summer, according to CalcioMercato.

TBR Football exclusively revealed in January that Arsenal were offered the chance to sign Retegui in January, but the move never materialised in the end.

Atalanta want at least £37 million to sell the 25-year-old and now, Arteta’s side are considering moving for him in the summer, with several clubs having contacted his agent.

Arsenal fans may remember David Raya’s incredible double penalty save to deny Retegui in the Champions League earlier this season.

Mateo Retegui is the top scorer in Serie A this season

Retegui, who’s been called a ‘complete player’ by Luciano Spalletti, has been on fire for Atalanta this season having netted 25 times in total.
