Player Ratings Poll: Bayern Munich 1 – 1 Union Berlin

3 Min Read

Well, what was that?

Bayern Munich drew on the road 1-1 at Union Berlin as recent Bundesliga struggles continued.

Josip Stanišić earned a start at right-back while Serge Gnabry and Eric Dier also got a chance to show what they could do.

Union defended as stoutly as any team could, compacting space and packing the box. It took all of Bayern’s creativity and probing to find runners to send in behind. It was an impressive display from the home side and also terrific work by Bayern — particularly Michael Olise, who showed off his passing vision and finally created the opening that saw Leroy Sané ghost in from the wing for the first goal.

But an error from keeper Jonas Urbig saw Bayern academy graduate Benedict Hollerbach equalize with less than 10 minutes to spare.

Bayern have a cushion atop the Bundesliga but are facing difficulties now in a stretch of schedule that does not look, on paper, to be too challenging. Focus elsewhere? As long as they keep performing in the Champions League

Enter your choices below. As usual, the rundown of the ‘rules’ — as this is a very serious, very scientific internet poll:

  • You may vote on as many or few of the fields as you like. You do not need a complete ballot.
  • It is possible to vote more than once, but please do not do that!
  • If signed into Google, you will be able to edit your vote. However sign-in is not required, and we do not collect e-mail addresses.
