Chelsea stuttered to another defeat as they were beaten away at Arsenal as they failed to capitalise on the chance to consolidate their spot in the top four.

The Blues have now lost three of their last five matches in the Premier League with several teams now queuing up behind them to take their Champions League spot.

It was a rather lifeless display from the Italian’s side in North London and he was spotted going over to send a clear message tp the Chelsea fans in the away end.

Enzo Maresca apologises to Chelsea away end after losing to Arsenal

Enzo Maresca was spotted apologising to the Chelsea away end after losing to Arsenal as his side struggled to show much sign of life.

Unfortunately for the former Leicester City boss, it’s far from the first time that his team have left supporters feeling incredibly frustrated.

Mikel Merino’s first half goal proved to be the decisive moment in the match as the West London club struggled to cause the Gunners’ back line any real danger.

Chelsea failed to register a single touch in the opposition penalty area in the first 20 minutes and at full-time, the Italian manager wanted to make sure that he felt his side’s performance was unacceptable and made that clear by holding his hands up to the away end.

Chelsea’s lifeless display away at Arsenal

Chelsea were without Cole Palmer and despite the forward’s recent poor form, it was clear just how much of a miss he was in North London.

Speaking ahead of the match, Maresca told the media that Palmer suffered an injury during a training session: “He had an injury yesterday during the session.”

The Blues struggled to carve out many meaningful chances as they created an xG of just 0.35 against Arsenal.
