Bayern Munich struggled to get anything from their chances against Union Berlin. From set-pieces, corner kicks in particular, it was comparable to a drought. The team took 14 corner kicks and had nothing to show for it. What went wrong?
“We took corners to the near post, middle and far post. That has been very successful for us this season,” Vincent Kompany explained (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia). “We scored many goals from corners this season. Today as I said it wasn’t a bad performance, but there was something missing in the last pass, the last moment, it was the same with corners. Nevertheless, we still created danger and could’ve won the game. When everything’s not perfect, then you say: Okay, we take the 1-0. But today that wasn’t the case.”
There are better ways to score a goal and Kompany must find the right combination for the upcoming games.
