Bayern seems committed to replacing its underperforming players.
With Leroy Sané, Kingsley Coman, and Serge Gnabry all underperforming at Bayern Munich and Bryan Zaragoza having been unimpressive during his time in Munich thus far, the need for a starting caliber winger to pair with Michael Olise is clear.
Problematically, the high number of wingers at the club means that before it can bring in a replacement, Bayern must arrange a sale to finance the move and free up space in its congested roster. One of the primary candidates for a transfer should the right conditions arise is Athletic Bilbao youngster Nico Williams, who has a release clause of 60 million Euros.

Coming through the youth system in Bilbao, it wasn’t until the 2022/23 La Liga campaign that the player really broke onto the scene, accumulating 10 goal contributions across 36 league matches. Williams continued to grow the following season with 16 more goal contributions, and has nine in the current campaign.
While his contributions to goals and assists are respectable, on the ball ability is where Williams shines most. The 22-year-old finds himself in the 96th and 97th percentile for progressive carries and successful take-ons respectively, measured against other players in the top five leagues over the last 365 days (FBREF).
Williams is undoubtedly a talented player with a bright future ahead of him, but whether he manages to take the jump and excel at a team of Bayern’s caliber remains to be seen.
