Ange Postecoglou is now under serious pressure at Tottenham Hotspur and Andoni Iraola is one of the leading contenders to replace him.
Tottenham Hotspur were beaten 2-0 at Craven Cottage as the North London club suffered a 15th Premier League defeat of the season, the highest number since the 2008/09 season.
Many supporters are now starting to ask serious questions about the Australian manager’s future in North London, meaning the club are having to assess replacements.
One of the men firmly in the frame to replace Postecoglou is Iraola and people close to his camp have made his stance clear about a move to Tottenham.
Andoni Iraola is open to taking the Tottenham job
Sources close to Andoni Iraola claim that the Spanish manager would be open to the prospect of replacing Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham, according to the Telegraph.
Bournemouth had been hopeful of renewing Iraola’s contract on the South Coast, which runs until 2026, however, interest from Spurs may hinder their progress.
Meanwhile, Marco Silva at Fulham is another manager who is being considered by Tottenham and there is a belief that he could part ways with the West London club.
As TBR Football has previously reported, Silva has a release clause in his contract at Fulham and it is yet to be seen whether any club would pay that.
Real Madrid’s stance over rivalling Tottenham for Andoni Iraola
Real Madrid have been impressed by Iraola’s work, but we are told he won’t be considered for that at this point, it is seen as too early for him, sources have told Graeme Bailey – chief correspondent at TBR Football.
The Spaniard is still in the early stages of his managerial career at the top flight having spent two seasons in La Liga with Rayo Vallecano and the same at Bournemouth in the Premier League.
The Cherries have dropped off over recent weeks having lost three of their last five Premier League matches, although they do remain firmly in contention for a European spot.
