The Premier League have announced a major change for next season and fans are furious.

Just a few months remain in this season’s Premier League campaign as Liverpool sit at the top of the table, 12 points clear of second-placed Arsenal.

Several teams are aiming secure Champions League qualification including Carabao Cup winners Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

At the other end of the table, Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town appear destined to to be relegated.

Ahead of the 2025/26 season, the Premier League have announced a new partnership with Puma, ending their 25-year association with Nike.

Puma will become the league’s official ball supplier from next season.

The sportswear manufacturer already holds a significant presence in England’s top flight, with a kit deal in place with current champions Manchester City.

And the likes of Kai Havertz, James Maddison and Harry Maguire are among Puma’s roster of players.

But fans on social media aren’t happy with the change as they made their feelings known.

One X user wrote: “This is an attack on football heritage.”

A second tweeted: “Terrible footballs, Mitre, Adidas and Nike make the best footballs.”

A third added: “I already dislike it.”

Chief executive Richard Masters said: “We are delighted to be welcoming PUMA as the Official Ball Supplier of the Premier League. PUMA has a proud history of involvement in football over many years and we look forward to seeing the new ball used at all our matches from this summer onwards.

“Their global reach and commitment to excellence align with our values, and we are excited to work together on a range of projects to drive forward the incredible work taking place in communities and inspire fans worldwide.”

Puma chief Arne Freundt added: “The agreement with the Premier League, the most-watched football league in the world, is an important step in PUMA’s brand elevation strategy.

“We look forward to bringing our performance technology to the forefront of the game and connecting with the many fans worldwide.

“With PUMA’s ball at the centre of attention during every match in this incredible league, we will create unforgettable moments for players and fans alike.”
