Mathys Tel has had a difficult time since signing for Tottenham Hotspur on loan from Bayern Munich.
Tottenham moved mountains to secure the Frenchman’s services in the winter transfer window. So much so that Ange Postecoglou convinced Tel to join Tottenham.
Even Harry Kane persuaded Tel to sign for Tottenham but so far, he has netted just one goal for the Lilywhites in all competitions.
The Sarcelles-born forward is clearly a gifted prospect but it is no mean feat to adapt to the Premier League and especially having signed for Spurs mid-season.
Ange Postecoglou might admit that ideally, he would have liked Mathys Tel to have a much bigger impact than he has had up until now.

Tottenham “very happy” with Mathys Tel for three reasons
But Fabrizio Romano told GiveMeSport that Tottenham are “very happy” with Tel.
The first reason behind Spurs still backing the Bayern Munich loanee to succeed in North London is because of his potential.
But secondly, figures at Tottenham are huge admirers of Tel’s attitude.
Fabrizio Romano said: “For Mathys Tel, they’re very happy with the boy, with the attitude, with the potential they see in this boy, and that’s why they were fighting for weeks to sign him in January.
Romano added that Ange Postecoglou backs Tel to be a hit for Tottenham in the long run as well: “And at the moment, their indication remains, as Postecoglou always says, that they trust him also for the future. Then let’s see what happens.”
Could Tottenham sign Mathys Tel permanently?
Tottenham believe they can sign Tel permanently as well.
There are two factors behind Spurs’ confidence.
- Tel is embracing the challenges Tottenham have been faced with this season
- Tel enjoys the life and culture in London
Bayern initially wished to sell Tel permanently anyway.
Whether the 19-year-old justifies all the trust in him remains to be seen.
But knowing how much Tottenham back him to shine, it is understandable why Tel is seemingly loving life under Ange Postecoglou.
