Regardless of whether Ange Postecoglou is still in charge this summer, Tottenham Hotspur will require significant investment in their squad to return the good times to N17.
Tottenham now have one of the world’s best stadiums, one that doesn’t befit the football that Postecoglou’s side are currently producing.
There’s no doubt that Spurs should be getting better results with the players at hand, but Postecoglou would definitely still benefit from some top quality additions.
That being said, some supporters in north London may now be concerned that some of the club’s top players might start to become disillusioned with the direction the club is heading in.
The likes of Cristian Romero and Son Heung-min have never won a trophy with the club despite their best efforts, and it seems as if the former has reached something of a crossroads in his Tottenham career.

As things stand, Romero’s contract will expire in 2027, meaning he’ll only have two-years left on his deal in the summer.
According to the report, ‘influential figures’ behind the scenes in north London will give Romero an ultimatum – sign a new contract or leave.
It’s believed that Real Madrid would be willing to make a considerable bid for Romero, and that could therefore be a route that Daniel Levy’s side pursue.
Tottenham would prefer to keep Romero and make him one of their highest earners, but aren’t willing to let him stay whilst his contract winds down, watching his value tumble.
James Maddison will want Cristian Romero to stay
Interestingly, James Maddison called Romero ‘underrated’ recently, a player who has been sorely missed during his injury woes.
The Argentina international admittedly hasn’t been at his best since he made his return against Bournemouth, but he’ll no doubt be hitting his top levels again soon.
There’s a realistic prospect of Spurs’ strongest back four being fully fit after the international break, one that Postecoglou has been without for some time.
Postecoglou has an issue with Djed Spence to solve, but there must be some temptation to return a quartet which worked so well for Spurs’ manager in the past.
Spurs paid £42m to sign Romero back in 2021 and at 26-years-old there’s every reason to believe that the best is still yet to come from the defender.
