Newcastle United star Alexander Isak has been linked with a move to both Arsenal and Liverpool this summer.
The Sweden international is having a fantastic season under Eddie Howe. Isak has been the best striker in the Premier League and his stock has been rising over the last few months.
The 25-year-old recently starred for Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool. His goal in the second half proved to be the winner and ended the Magpies’ long wait for silverware.
Isak’s focus will be on the next few months at Newcastle, but he will have a ton of interest from other clubs in the summer transfer window.
Yasir Al-Rumayyan sends clear message to Newcastle board about Alexander Isak’s future
Like every Newcastle fan on the planet, club chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan was over the moon following his side’s Carabao Cup triumph on Sunday.
The Magpies went into the game as the underdogs, but they completely outplayed Liverpool and won the game at Wembley.
Isak stepped up for the Magpies, and his performance gave every interested club more reason to make a move for him this summer.
However, Al-Rumayyan is not entertaining any offer.
The Daily Mail reveal that the Newcastle United chairman has told the club’s hierarchy to resist all bids for Isak, who is his ‘favourite player’.
Al-Rumayyan is adamant that his star striker will not go anywhere this summer. That is a big blow for Arsenal and Liverpool, who both want to sign Isak.
The report adds that Newcastle are so keen to keep the Swede that they have not even discussed an asking price for him.
What could Arsenal and Liverpool do if Isak is not available?
It was always going to be difficult for Arsenal and Liverpool to land Isak.
Newcastle have been adamant from the start that they do not want to let their number 14 go, and their recent cup win has made their resolve stronger.
The top two Premier League sides will now have to look elsewhere, and Arsenal and Liverpool have both been linked with Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig.
The Gunners have worked on Sesko more than any other player, while TBR Football exclusively revealed that Liverpool are interested in Sesko as well.
If Isak is no longer an option, we could see a battle between Arsenal and Liverpool for the Slovenia international striker this summer.
