After four games without a win, the Red Bulls were able to pick up three points again – in a high-class evening match.
Xavi was quickest to react after a counter-attack and converted the rebound from BVB keeper Gregor Kobel to give his side a 1:0 lead (18th minute). RBL increased the lead to 2:0 immediately after the break when Lois Openda scored with a spectacular volley following a corner from Xavi (48′). However, the goal woke up Dortmund, who were now much more aggressive.
