The position might be cursed at Bayern Munich this season…

According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich goalkeeper Jonas Urbig has suffered an injury at Germany’s U-21 camp:

Jonas #Urbig will return to Munich early due to a foot injury and will pause training for four to five days. Bayern view this recall as a precautionary measure.

Manuel Neuer (multiple injuries, the latest a torn calf muscle) and Daniel Peretz (bruised kidney) have already both suffered injuries this season (both are also currently banged up as well), while Sven Ulreich also had an unexpected hiatus from the team that was never fully explained by the club.

Clearly, this season has been a tough one for the position. Neuer, though, is making progress per Plettenberg:

Meanwhile, Manuel Neuer is working on his comeback at Säbener Straße following a muscle fibre tear in his right calf. The plan is for him to return in goal for Bayern’s home match against St. Pauli on March 29th after the international break.

Here is some footage captured by Bild journalist Nico Linner of Neuer working out at Säbener Straße:

⚪️ Rehabilitation progress for Manuel #Neuer : The number one of #FCBayern is doing some easy exercises with the ball today for the first time since his calf injury.

Fingers crossed…
