Having the right mentality to key to being a Bayern player.
Josip Stanišić joined Bayern Munich’s academy in 2017, a time in which Bavarian legends Arjen Robben and Franck Ribéry were still at the club. The Croatian defender has had plenty of time to watch legends of Bayern apply their trade and reach the top of the world of football in 2020.
And he had plenty of time to see what sets Bayern’s legends apart from the rest: “Guys like Thomas Müller or Manuel Neuer, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Franck Ribéry or Arjen Robben embody the Mia san mia that makes FC Bayern so special,” Stanišić said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “They are not satisfied after a 1-0 lead, they keep going and don’t stop even when the score is 6-0 or 7-0.”
Of course, he is now not just a youth player but an established member of a team that still has Neuer and Müller in it. He has had time to learn from them. Perhaps he, too, can learn to embody this special mentality the way the Bayern legends have? Certainly, Stanišić has made a habit of defying the odds in his career and pushing past his limits.
