Liverpool has just announced a lucrative, multi-year kit partnership with Adidas set to kick off next season, which will see them part ways with current supplier Nike.

A flurry of potential designs for next season’s club badges have surfaced – from the city’s traditional coat of arms, various shield motifs, to the iconic standalone Liver Bird. Multiple versions of Liverpool’s emblem are floating around, and it looks like supporters can anticipate some new twists.

Footy Headlines reports that Liverpool will feature three distinct badges across its kits next season. It’s said that the home shirt will showcase the classic Liver Bird emblem, with the away kit sporting the Liver Bird ensconced within a shield, while the third kit will be graced with a modern take on a sea-green 1990s badge.

The classic Liver Bird has been Liverpool’s kit staple since the 2012/13 season when they transitioned from Adidas to Warrior. “Everyone at the club is incredibly excited to welcome adidas back into the LFC family,” Liverpool chief executive Billy Hogan said in a statement confirming the new deal.

“We have enjoyed fantastic success together in the past and created some of the most iconic LFC kits of all time. adidas and Liverpool share an ambition of success and we couldn’t be more excited to partner together again as we look forward to creating more incredible kits to help drive on pitch performance. We’d like to thank Nike for their support over the last five years and wish them well for the future.”

While Adidas chief executive Bjorn Gulden said: “The jerseys worn during previous partnerships are some of the greatest ever created. We are honored to once again provide the players with cutting-edge technology to perform at the highest level and are looking forward to creating more classics for the fans.”
