Aston Villa are enjoying another superb season under Unai Emery as they remain firmly in the picture for two trophies.

The Villans are in the quarter-finals of both the Champions League and the FA Cup, and there’s only four points between them and the Premier League’s top four.

Aston Villa have pulled off many coups in the transfer market in recent years, landing the likes of Amadou Onana and Marco Asensio amongst many others.

Now, the Villans are said to be ahead of the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in the race for one of Europe’s most exciting young forwards.

Aston Villa lead Charalampos Kostoulas race ahead of the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham

The player in question is Charalampos Kostoulas, who has been shining for Greek giants Olympiacos.

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey previously confirmed that Villa, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are amongst the clubs to have asked about Kostoulas.

Now, CaughtOffside have reported that Villa are particularly keen on signing Kostoulas and now lead the race for the 17-year-old’s signature.

The report claims that Villa already have plans in place for how to build around Kostoulas in future.

Olympiacos are said to have valued the Greek teenager at €30million, or around £25million.

What Charampos Kostoulas could bring to Aston Villa

Kostoulas is a young forward who can play centrally or on the flanks, though his long-term future is likely to be up front leading the line.

At just 17 years of age, Kostoulas has already made 33 competitive appearances for Olympiacos’ first-team, registering six goals and two assists.

Football Talent Scout‘s Jacek Kulig has deemed Kostoulas a “complete forward” and likened his style of play to that of Karim Benzema and Edinson Cavani.

His key traits include killer instinct, great off-the-ball movement, above-average decision-making, timing, intelligence, composure, and flair in the final third.

‘In addition to his goalscoring ability, he is also a team player with decent playmaking skills who’s capable of creating chances and assisting goals for teammates,’ added Kulig.

Needless to say, Kostoulas looks like an exciting prospect, and he would no doubt go from strength to strength at B6 under Unai Emery.
