Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have had very different seasons.
Spurs have been awful for large parts of the campaign. They have lost 15 games in the Premier League and are currently 14th in the table.
Liverpool, on the other hand, have all but won the Premier League title after what has been a great season for them. Yes, they lost the Carabao Cup final, but Arne Slot deserves great praise for the work he has done this term.
Now, one of the players who started in that cup final could be on his way out of the club once the summer transfer window opens.
Tottenham have an interest in Liverpool star Caoimhin Kelleher but there’s a problem
Caoimhin Kelleher will complete 10 years at Liverpool in July this summer.
The Ireland international, hailed as ‘world-class‘ by Virgil van Dijk, joined the Reds’ academy from Ringmahon in his home country in 2015, and he has worked his way up to the first team.
Kelleher is still behind Alisson Becker, but the 26-year-old has proven over the last two years that he is good enough to be the number one elsewhere.
With Giorgi Mamardashvili moving to Anfield this summer, Kelleher knows that he has to move on, and GiveMeSport claim that Tottenham are interested in him.
But, a move to Spurs is unlikely.
That’s because Ange Postecoglou’s side already have Guglielmo Vicario as their number one, while Antonin Kinsky was signed in January.
The report claims that Tottenham are ‘backing their current options’ and they ‘would be unable to guarantee Kelleher the minutes he is looking for’ this summer.
Five other Premier League clubs want to sign Kelleher
An argument can be made that Kelleher is better than both Vicario and Kinsky, but Tottenham cannot make a move to sign him unless they part ways with one of their two goalkeepers.
That is a shame as Spurs would’ve been a good club for Kelleher, but the Liverpool star has no reason to worry – he has plenty of interest from other sides.
TBR Football exclusively revealed in February that Chelsea are among five clubs interested in signing Kelleher this summer.
Nottingham Forest maintain an interest in the Ireland star, while Bournemouth, Newcastle United and also Celtic like Kelleher.
It remains to be seen where he will end up before the start of next season.
