Vincent Kompany’s lack of rotation has claimed its first victim.

As expected, Bayern Munich’s Kim Min-jae is missing the international break with the Korean national team due to the achilles tendonitis that has been bothering the center-back.

A report by Yonhap News shares the statement by the Korean Football Association regarding the defender (via @iMiaSanMia): “We decided Kim Min-jae would need to take time to receive treatment on his left Achilles tendinitis and rehab during the international break. We will decide later whether a replacement player will be called up.”

Yonhap News added more context:

The Korean federation (@theKFA) formalize Kim Min-jae’s absence from their next World Cup qualifiers: ‘We decided Kim Min-jae would need to take time to receive treatment on his left Achilles tendinitis and rehab during the international break. We will decide later whether a replacement player will be called up.

As previously reported, Bayern’s handling of Kim’s injury had already been criticized by South Korea’s manager Hong Myung-bo.

Kim has been a victim of Vincent Kompany’s lack of rotation as he has been anchored in the starting center-back position alongside Dayot Upamecano. The big question now is whether or not the defender will be ready to face Inter Milan?
