TBR Football can reveal that Fulham have joined the race to sign England and Lille midfielder Angel Gomes on a free transfer in the summer.
The Cottagers are having an outstanding campaign under Marco Silva and are readying talks with him over a new contract.
Tottenham have added Silva to their list of managerial targets and the West London club know they will need to make a strong pitch to convince him to stay.
Fulham’s hierarchy are keen to show the Portugese coach that they are firmly looking to back him in the market this summer with some big-name additions.
Fulham want to sign Angel Gomes for Marco Silva
Graeme Bailey — TBR Football’s chief correspondent has been informed that one of Fulham’s targets is Angel Gomes – who they believe would be an ideal fit for Silva’s system.
TBR Football revealed earlier this month that West Ham had backed away from a potential deal for Gomes as the midfielder’s team assessed their options.
TBR Football has been told that Gomes has interest from across Europe and nearly a dozen clubs have held talks about a move as a free agent.
Another key destination on the table for Gomes is Tottenham Hotspur, but Fulham are also now in the mix and have held talks over what a potential deal could look like for the Lille midfielder.
Bringing the England international to Craven Cottage could go a long way to convincing Silva to reject interest from Tottenham and commit to a new long-term deal.
But there is also another factor which is causing Spurs issues in their pursuit of the Fulham boss.
Marco Silva’s release clause causing issues for Tottenham
TBR Football has previously revealed that Silva’s £8 million release clause is putting Tottenham off making a move for him.
Ange Postecoglou has been told he must qualify for Europe this season, otherwise, it seems unlikely that he will remain in charge going into the summer.
Bourenmouth manager Andoni Iraola is another Spurs target and it’s understood that he would be keen to take the in North London.
