Gary Lineker has shared the details of a falling out he’s had with former Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho.
Jose Mourinho is a Premier League legend after his stints with Chelsea, United and Tottenham.
Meanwhile, Gary Lineker is one of the nicest men in football.
The Match of the Day host is one of the most personable figures in the game, and he was never even yellow carded in his career he was that friendly.
However, even Lineker can rub people up the wrong way sometimes.
Speaking on the BBC Match of the Day Top 10 Podcast, Lineker says that he’s upset Mourinho somewhere along the line, so much so that the former Tottenham boss refused to speak to him for a long while.
Gary Lineker fell out with Jose Mourinho
Lineker spoke about how his relationship with Mourinho has changed.
The pundit says that he and Mourinho were on great terms at one point and would often exchange messages.
However, for some reason, Mourinho stopped talking to him and was rather stand offish when they’d meet.
Lineker recently had a positive message exchange with Mourinho, but he still feels as though something isn’t right.
“He doesn’t love me anymore. I’ve definitely upset him, I don’t know why. He used to text me saying he loves the show and he watches the show,” Lineker said.
“But then GQ got in touch with me to give him an award, and then the day before GQ messaged me saying he’d prefer to get it from someone who isn’t in football.
“I asked him and said ‘are we ok?’ He was offish, and I thought there was something wrong. He stopped talking to me after that. Then he went to United and he was offish. Maybe I did one of my silly jokes.
“I tried to kiss and make up recently, I got his number and sent him a message, he didn’t blank me, he replied with a hug, but there’s definitely something.”
Jose Mourinho’s fallings out
Jose Mourinho is an all-time great manager, but he does have this tendency to fall out with people easily.
Mourinho and Daniel Levy fell out during his time at Tottenham, while Mourinho had some issues with Wayne Rooney at Manchester United as well.
Meanwhile, Heung-Min Son is one of the nicest people in football, and Mourinho even managed to upset Son at one point.
Of course, all of that is before we even touch on Mourinho’s issues with Paul Pogba at Manchester United.
The former Chelsea boss is a complicated individual to say the least, and he does have this record of getting on the wrong side of people.
Lineker and Mourinho appear to be on better terms recently, but, as the pundit says, something isn’t quite right.
