Liverpool may be waving goodbye to two of its star forwards this summer, irrespective of Mohamed Salah’s future. Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez have both attracted attention from beyond the Premier League, potentially leading to their departure from Anfield.

Salah’s contract is due to expire in the summer and he has yet to sign an extension. Even if the Egyptian superstar does put pen to paper on a new deal, Liverpool could still need to bolster its attacking options. This could mean a busy transfer window for Sporting director Richard Hughes.

Barcelona is reportedly still interested in Diaz and is planning to beef up its attacking trio in the upcoming months. Jorge Mendes, who was instrumental in Diaz’s 2022 move to Liverpool, maintains a close relationship with Barca chiefs Deco and Joan Laporta.

Meanwhile, the Saudi Pro League continues to show interest in Nunez. Despite having a deal turned down in January, they are expected to make another significant investment in 2025. However, any bid for Nunez could face competition from Atletico Madrid.

The futures of Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa seem secure at Liverpool, with both players seemingly happy to stay despite challenging seasons marred by injuries. While there might be a need for a revamp in the forward line, Liverpool’s focus seems to be primarily on full-backs. The Reds are reportedly keen on Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez and hold a concrete interest in Bayer Leverkusen wing-back Jeremie Frimpong.

Liverpool have been eyeing up potential new forwards, with Alexander Isak and Matheus Cunha’s names in the mix. Despite Isak’s recent goal against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final, Newcastle aren’t looking to offload him after his contribution to their Wembley triumph.

After a couple of quieter transfer windows, Arne Slot has signalled that Anfield is set for a busier summer. The Dutchman is determined to keep Liverpool competitive on all fronts.

“Liverpool should always be competing for a league title, we should always be competing for the Champions League. I’m hoping I will be able to keep the club at that level,” Slot remarked earlier this year.

“I know people sometimes question this because they haven’t seen us doing a lot in the transfer market in the summer and now in the winter as well. There’s a reason for that – because we’re happy with the squad.

“But I do know we’re definitely working on strengthening in the summer.”
