As reported by MARCA, Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen has emerged as the first priority for Real Madrid for the summer transfer window. The La Liga club are in the market actively looking for a centre-back ahead of the next season.
Who is Dean Huijsen?
Dean Huijsen came through Juventus academy and spent a loan spell at Roma. He then switched to Bournemouth in the summer of 2024. He has made impressive progress in recent times and his talent hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Huijsen is having a decent campaign so far where he has featured across 27 games and has two goals to his name. He is averaging 1.2 tackles, 1.8 interceptions, and 5.4 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).
The Dutch defender is an aggressive minded ball-playing defender. He is comfortable with both feets, allowing him to feature on either side as a centre-back. He is physically strong, technically sounded, duels winner and intercepts the threats really well.
Dean Huijsen is a great choice
Real Madrid have faced problems in their defensive unit this season due to multiple injuries. There is raising doubt over the fitness of David Alaba while Antonio Rudiger’s workload needs to be managed well. Though Eder Militao will regain full fitness ahead of the next season, the club needs more strength on their bench.
Hence, the Whites have been actively searching for a centre-back in the market. They are linked with the likes of Jorrel Hato, Ibrahima Konate, Castello Lukeba, and William Saliba. However, Dean Huijsen seems the most realistic option as it will be easier to sign him.
Huijsen is a great talent who is proving his worth in the Premier League. He is expected to get better and better with more experience and guidance. He can be a long-term acquisition for Real Madrid and a probable star performer in the future.
