Report: The major reason why Milos Kerkez sees himself at Liverpool as Reds now make contact to sign him

4 Min Read

Milos Kerkez has been linked with a move to Liverpool for several months now as he continues to cement his status as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League.

This season in particular, the AFC Bournemouth defender has shone, prompting Arne Slot to request Kerkez’s signing as a replacement for Andy Robertson.

Kerkez could end up at Liverpool where he could also be reunited with his Hungarian teammate Dominik Szoboszlai.

If given the tasks to replace Robertson, Milos Kerkez is perhaps one of the most suitable replacements for the Scottish international in Europe — being similarly athletic, reliable defensively, having the engine to bomb up and down the pitch and a brilliant cross on him.

With Liverpool looking set to win the league this season as well, heading to Merseyside would be the perfect destination for the 21-year-old to show what he’s made of at the highest level.

Milos Kerkez eyes Liverpool move to reunite with Richard Hughes

Having signed Kerkez from AZ Alkmaar as Bournemouth’s sporting director in 2023, now-Liverpool director of football Richard Hughes needs no reminding of how special a talent he is.

Liverpool have been scouting Kerkez regularly and were even believed to be interested in bringing him to Anfield in January.

However, the former AC Milan left-back was happy to stay at Bournemouth and contribute to the Cherries’ incredibly impressive season up until now.

But as far as the following campaign is concerned, a key reason why Kerkez sees himself signing for Liverpool is to reunite with Richard Hughes — according to the i Paper. Kerkez is keen on a move to Liverpool, with the report mentioning that as things stand, his mind is made up despite interest from Real Madrid, Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United.

Liverpool have made contact to sign Kerkez but no bid to sign him has been tabled yet.

How much would Liverpool have to pay to sign Milos Kerkez?

But the league leaders will be aware that they will have to loosen their purse strings to sign the youngster.

The Vrbas-born wonderkid’s talent is no longer a secret and several clubs would like to bring him in to become their starting left-back.

Kerkez would cost £40 million, a fee that Liverpool should consider justified due to his performances in England and his age.

The Hungarian can prove to be a tactical weapon for Arne Slot as well, as he is capable of operating as both a left-back and as a left-wing back.

It will be interesting to see which left-back Slot’s side do end up signing, with Antonee Robinson being Liverpool’s first-choice left-back target.
