Germany toughed out a win!
Germany was able to earn a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Italy in a match where two Bayern Munich stars played massive roles in the win.
Joshua Kimmich had two assists and was widely regarded as the Man of the Match, while Leon Goretzka was a consistent threat and eventually scored the game-winner in the 76th minute.
Germany had other heroes — especially Hoffenheim goalkeeper Oliver Baumann — and deservedly earned the road win at San Siro. There were a lot of positives in how the squad performed, but coach Julian Nagelsmann did not do a great job with his starting XI selections and a few players had lackluster showings (RB Leipzig’s David Raum, Mainz 05’s Nadiem Amiri and Jonathan Burkardt), which dropped some points in my ratings book.
I rated Germany’s performance as an 8.75 out of 10.00. (Scale 1.00 is the lowest, 10.00 is the highest). BFW Community…tell us how you are feeling at the moment?
