Halfway through, things are looking good.
Germany struggled through a frustrating first half against Italy in the Nations League quarterfinal, holding the ball a lot but failing to create any meaningful chances and therefore ending the half down 1-0. However, a second half resurgence saw Germany come out 2-1 winners at full time. Certainly something changed to see the Germans come out on top and manager Julian Nagelsmann opines it was the players who did it:
“I’m especially happy that we came back from 0-1 and won the game. We spoke before the game that we wanted to win both legs. The guys who came on did really well,” the former Bayern Munich head coach said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “We could’ve scored more goals in the second half. We had a few problems in the first half – we didn’t change much [in the second half] except the personnel. The team showed desire and did everything to win today.”
That they did. If they can replicate that desire on Sunday, Germany will likely make it to the final four of the Nations League. For what that is worth.
