A MOTM performance for the Bayern man!
After a lackluster first half from the Germans, it looked to be going all wrong in San Siro.
Germany is not exactly used to beating the Italians on their home turf, and Italy had bagged an early goal to lead in the first leg of this UEFA Nations League quarter-finals tie.
Then right-back Joshua Kimmich stepped up, took the reins, and seemingly willed his team right back into the game on his own. Of course it was a team effort. But it was Kimmich, a leading shout for MOTM honors afterwards, who supplied a pin-point cross from deep to find Tim Kleindienst for the equalizer…and Kimmich who duplicated the feat from a corner to find Leon Goretzka for the winner.
The Bayern Munich man and national team captain was just happy to be of service.
“I’m happy with the win and the performance,” Kimmich stated after the match (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “We made a few changes in the second half especially with regards to having more presence in the box. We noticed that the Italians let us have the ball around the box so we occupied the box and crossed the ball more often. Tim and Leon did that well. Thankfully [my] crosses worked out well today. I’m happy for Leon and for the entire team that we won.”

Right-back or midfield? Kimmich leads wherever he lines up. And today was no exception.
