Liverpool have reportedly stepped up their efforts to sign RB Leipzig attacker Xavi Simons during this summer’s transfer window.
There is currently a host of speculation surrounding the 21-year-old’s future, with a number of clubs believed to be interested in signing him in the upcoming market.
Simons has scored eight goals and registered five assists in 25 appearances for Leipzig this season, while he has 18 goals and 19 assists in 68 matches for the Bundesliga side in total.
The Netherlands international completed a permanent move to his current side from Paris Saint-Germain in January 2025, but he could be on his way out of the club during this summer’s market.
Manchester United are currently being heavily linked with a move for Simons, with the Red Devils believed to view him as the ideal player to boost their attacking unit ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

Liverpool ‘step up efforts’ to sign Simons from Leipzig
However, according to CaughtOffside, Liverpool are also in the running for the Dutchman, who is expected to be available for a fee in the region of €80m (£67m) during the upcoming market.
The Reds, as it stands, will lose Mohamed Salah on a free transfer this summer, with the Egypt international not yet signing a new deal despite his excellent form during he 2024-25 campaign.
Simons is capable of operating in a wide area, but the majority of his football this season has come as a number 10, and he starred against Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga last weekend, scoring once and providing an assist in a 2-0 Leipzig win.
The attacker spent nine years in the youth system at Barcelona before making the move to PSG in 2019, but he only made 11 first-team appearances during his time with the French champions.

Would Simons be a good signing for Liverpool?
Liverpool are expected to move for a couple of new attackers this summer, with Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota potentially being allowed to leave, while Salah, as it stands, will be departing on a free transfer.
Cody Gakpo has had a strong season, scoring 16 times and registering five assists, and the 25-year-old is set to stay at Anfield, while it would also be a surprise to see Luis Diaz, who has 13 goals this term, depart this summer.
Liverpool need more creation in the final third of the field, though, and Simons could be perfect for the Merseyside giants, as he is capable of scoring and providing assists from a central area.
Simons will not come cheap, with Bayern Munich also believed to be in the mix for his signature, but it would be a statement of intent from Liverpool if they were to win the race for a player who has also scored three times and registered three assists in 25 caps for Netherlands.
