Bournemouth centre-back Dean Huijsen is expected to make his full debut for Spain in Sunday’s UEFA Nations League quarter-final second leg against Netherlands.
Huijsen’s future is currently the subject of much speculation, with Real Madrid and Liverpool both believed to be determined to sign the 19-year-old during this summer’s transfer window.
The centre-back made his Spain debut in the first leg of their Nations League quarter-final against Netherlands on Thursday night, featuring off the bench in the latter stages of the first period after Pau Cubarsi was forced off injured.
Cubarsi is carrying an ankle issue which has made him a major doubt for the return fixture this weekend.
As a result, it is highly unlikely that he will start, with Huijsen set to be the player to benefit, but head coach Luis de la Fuente is otherwise expected to name an unchanged side.
Nico Williams was Spain’s star man in the first leg, scoring the opener before playing a major role in his side’s second, with Mikel Merino converting in the latter stages to make it 2-2 in Rotterdam.
Dani Olmo is pushing for a spot in the XI, but Lamine Yamal is a certainty to continue down the right, while the captain Alvaro Morata should again feature in the middle of the attack for the European champions.
Spain possible starting lineup: Simon; Porro, Le Normand, Huijsen, Cucurella; Pedri, Zubimendi, Ruiz; Yamal, Morata, N Williams
