Alisson, who has been in excellent form for Arne Slot’s side this season, was called up to Brazil’s national team for their matches against Colombia and Argentina.

However, the 32-year-old’s first game was cut short when he collided with former Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez in the second half. Alisson, earning his 72nd international cap, was substituted in the 78th minute and replaced by Al-Nassr’s Bento. Brazil’s team doctor stated following the match that Alisson had endured a suspected concussion due to the collision.

Upon his return to Liverpool for further assessment, Alisson is now set to miss Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Argentina next Wednesday.

Liverpool released a statement on Friday saying: “Alisson Becker has departed the Brazil national team set-up and he will return to Liverpool.

“The goalkeeper was forced off in the second half of his nation’s World Cup qualifier with Colombia in the early hours of Friday following a collision.

“Alisson is travelling back to Merseyside. He will undergo assessment from the Reds’ medical staff.”

Alisson has now shared an update on his condition via Instagram, assuring fans that he’s “fine” and just needs to follow the relevant protocols. Sharing a selfie, Alisson reassured fans by posting: “Hey guys, just to let you know I’m fine.

“Just have to follow the protocols! Thanks for the messages,” along with a love heart emoji and a folded hands emoji.

The health status of Liverpool’s goalkeeper Alisson was extensively clarified by Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar following his substitution during their victory over Colombia. Lasmar confirmed that Alisson had sustained a head injury and additional examinations were necessary.

“Alisson suffered a trauma to the head region, he was replaced by a suspected concussion,” Lasmar stated on CNN Brazil. “Now we will do all the CBF protocol, it will undergo recommended imaging tests, a computed tomography, then a resonance with diffusion.

“Alisson is [feeling] normal, with no complaints. He reported no fainting and no memory loss. He thought it was a little slower. In this complaint, the recommended is the replacement of the player.”

Liverpool’s next match isn’t until Wednesday, April 2, when it takes on Everton, and the hope is that Alisson will be cleared to play by then.

With Slot’s team sitting 12 points ahead at the summit of the Premier League, they’ll be eager to seal their success once players return from international duty.
