Arsenal have given their all this season but might not be able to secure the Premier League title. Liverpool are the favourites to win it. However, they have qualified for the quarterfinal of the UEFA Champions League, where they will face the dangerous Real Madrid. They have been transforming their squad under Mikel Arteta and will be looking to do the same in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Arsenal do need attacking reinforcements because Gabriel Jesus has not been consistent in front of the goal. The club have been heavily dependent on Bukayo Saka, who has been sidelined with an injury for quite some time this season. Hence, the Gunners need depth in the attacking department and for that to happen, the club have to side a quality forward.

Arsenal Are The Favourites To Sign Nico Williams

Arsenal have been keeping tabs on the Athletic club winger Nico Williams for quite some time and are displaying interest in signing him. He is one of the youngest quality wingers in La Liga and has all that it takes to shine in a big club. Chelsea and Barcelona are also interested in signing the 22-year-old.

According to FootballTransfers, Williams is currently tied to a €10.42 million per year (£8.9m per year) contract with Athletic Club, earning roughly €200,385 (£171,000) a week. The report has revealed that the club are the favourites to sign Williams in the summer and are willing to offer him £200,000 per week salary for five years. Barcelona and Chelsea are struggling with financial issues and Arsenal have managed their finances in a better way, which gives them the advantage.

Kieran Tierney (£110,000 per week), Thomas Partey (£200,000 per week), and Jorginho (£110,000 per week) might be leaving the club and hence the Gunners can clear a significant part of their wage bill. Williams has scored 4 goals in 24 matches so far in the La Liga 2024/2025 season. The winger has amassed a G/A of 9 for this season.

Athletic Bilbao’s Spanish winger, is a dynamo on the flank. His sensational pace and fearless dribbling make him a 1v1 nightmare, often leaving defenders in his wake. At 22, he is ambidextrous; cutting inside or out with either foot, delivering whipped crosses or fierce shots. Williams’ vision is on display in tight spaces, linking play with clever passes, while his relentless pressing adds defensive bite. A Euro 2024 star, he scored in the final, proving his big-stage mettle. Though the Spaniard’s finishing can lack polish, his raw energy and versatility mark him as a thrilling talent with a sky-high ceiling.

Will the Gunners be happy?

Arsenal fans must be buzzing that they are frontrunners for Nico Williams. FootballTransfers says the club are ready to splash £200k a week on him, outmuscling cash-strapped Barcelona and Chelsea. With Tierney, Partey, and Jorginho possibly off, the Gunners would free up wages for his £8.9m-a-year deal. His pace and flair—4 goals, 9 G/As this season—would light up the team’s wings. Sure, his finishing is raw, but at 22, he is a gem worth polishing. Arsenal’s smart finances could seal this—snagging a Euro 2024 hero feels like a statement.
