Barcelona would reportedly be willing to let Raphinha leave during this summer’s transfer window if an offer of €120m (£101m) were to arrive, with Manchester United said to be keen to sign the attacker.
The 28-year-old has been in extraordinary form for the Catalan giants this season, scoring 27 goals and registering 20 assists in 42 appearances in all competitions, including 11 goals and five assists in 10 Champions League outings.
Raphinha is now one of the first names on the team sheet at Camp Nou, but there has recently been speculation surrounding his future, with Barcelona under pressure to make a major sale this summer for financial reasons.
Man United’s interest in the Brazilian is believed to date back to his time at Leeds United, with the 20-time English champions said to have considered a move for him when it became clear that he would leave Elland Road.
According to Fichajes, Barcelona would be willing to let Raphinha leave if an offer of €120m (£101m) arrived, and Man United are considering making what would be a spectacular offer during this summer’s transfer window.
Barcelona ‘place £101m valuation’ on Man United-linked forward
Raphinha admitted last week that he seriously considered leaving Barcelona during last summer’s transfer window after an underwhelming 2023-24 season, where he only scored 10 times for the Catalan giants.
“I was thinking about leaving Barcelona after the Copa America because I wasn’t psychologically comfortable until [Hansi] Flick called me,” Raphinha told reporters while on international duty with Brazil.
“That stage was very hectic. Every day we hear news that I’m going to join one team or another. Things didn’t go as they should have, I had a worse season than expected and I saw people calling for me to leave and every day there was news of my departure.
“I seriously thought about leaving. Flick called me and asked me to come to training before deciding because he wanted to talk to me and was counting on me. That was a turning point in my decision to stay.
“I spoke to my wife and told her: If this man is fair and sees the effort I put in in training, I’ll make him love me in a week and he won’t regret it and I think I was right.”
Could Man United really sign Raphinha this summer?
Raphinha would be an incredible signing for Man United, but it is very difficult to imagine the Red Devils paying the sort of money that would be required for Barcelona to entertain a transfer.
Ruben Amorim‘s side are also under pressure to make some sales this summer, with Marcus Rashford, Antony, Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho among those capable of raising big money in the market.
For that reason, a deal for Raphinha is not impossible, but the Red Devils would surely have to win this season’s Europa League to secure Champions League football for next term in order to be in a position to potentially sign him.
The Brazilian scored 17 times and registered 12 assists in 67 matches for Leeds, including 17 goals and 12 assists in 65 Premier League matches, while he has 47 goals and 45 assists in 129 games for Barcelona in total.
