Liverpool could raise over £200m by selling eight players in summer transfer window

Liverpool may have one hand firmly on the Premier League trophy, but more recent matches have shown that the Reds board cannot rest on their laurels during the summer transfer window.

Arne Slot‘s men can have no complaints about being knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain, or losing the EFL Cup final 2-1 to an inspired Newcastle United side a few days later.

The Reds’ lack of physicality compared to the Magpies was on full display – especially when Alexis Mac Allister was tasked with marking Dan Burn at corners – and the Premier League champions-elect are expected to have an extremely busy window this summer.

Of course, the uncertain contract situations of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk continue to dominate the Liverpool transfer headlines, and all three could still leave for nothing at the end of the season.

However, there are a handful of either fringe or under-performing Liverpool players who could be sold to boost the club’s coffers, and according to Transfermarkt valuations, the Reds could raise a staggering €238m (£200.4m) by doing so.

While Salah should soon break the single-season Premier League record for the most combined goals and assists, several of his fellow attackers have flattered to deceive, including Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.

Both South Americans are therefore being tipped to leave this summer, as Diaz has still not signed an extension to his current contract – which expires in 2027 – while Nunez is allegedly a Saudi Pro League target.

Diaz is valued at an astounding €85m (£71.6m), while Nunez comes in slightly lower at €50m (£42.1m), although the financial powerhouses of Saudi Arabia would have no trouble shelling out that fee for the latter.

Diaz and Nunez have been inconsistent for a couple of years, but Federico Chiesa is already being linked with an exit after just one season, one in which he has made just 11 appearances in all tournaments and has not started one Premier League match.

The injury-plagued Italian comes with an €18m (£15.2m) price tag, according to Transfermarkt, while Diogo Jota‘s future is not set in stone either, but it is difficult to see Slot letting as many as four attackers leave in one window.

Which other players are on the Liverpool chopping block?

In addition to the aforementioned attacking trio, defensive midfielders Wataru Endo and Tyler Morton – the latter of whom is currently out with a shoulder problem – will seemingly have to move on if they want regular game in 2025-26.

Endo’s valuation is €10m (£8.4m), while the seldom-seen Morton is rated at just €8m (£6.7m), although there is still no indication of how serious his injury is and if it could jeopardise a summer move.

Defender Joe Gomez (£21.1m) is also sidelined with a hamstring problem but was linked with a move back to London last summer, while backup left-back Kostas Tsimikas (£16.8m) is also a candidate for the chop.

Liverpool are looking to bring in a new left-back as an eventual successor to Andy Robertson, but Slot reportedly wants to keep the Scotland international around for the 2025-26 season before his contract ends.

Finally, this summer may finally be the one that sees Caoimhin Kelleher (£18.5m) move on, as Liverpool prepare to welcome Giorgi Mamardashvili to Anfield in a few months’ time.
