Who stays, who goes, and who leads?
Bayern Munich is looking to sign on new players this summer and has already inked one of them in Tom Bischof, a young midfielder from TSG Hoffenheim. However, purchasing him means that Bayern would have too many midfielders, a saturated depth chart.
Joshua Kimmich recently extended his contract at the club, much to fans satisfaction (for the most part), so he simply adds on to the list of midfielders that Bayern can put on the field. So, the club is looking to offload some of their players. According to a report from Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), it looks like Bayern has a ranking of midfielders in order of least likely to leave and most likely:
Aleks Pavlović is a cornerstone for the future. Konrad Laimer is reliable and can cover other positions. João Palhinha is a candidate for sale if there are interested parties and a suitable offer. Raphaël Guerreiro, who can also play in midfield, is also allowed to leave. As for Leon Goretzka, who has long been considered the first candidate for sale, there’s now a chance he could stay longer.
Fans may not be happy to see that Bayern is willing to let go of Guerreiro, who has been putting in some good shifts on the pitch lately. Goretzka has been satisfactory, so it makes sense that he stays, despite the drama that went down earlier this year.
