Could Leon Goretzka be in for a longer stay at Bayern Munich?
It has been quite a stretch for Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka.
The 30-year-old was an afterthought to start the season and was being told that he was not a part of Bayern Munich’s future.
Things have changed, though, and now Goretzka has — once again — become an integral member of Bayern Munich’s midfield group, while also getting a call-up for the German national team.
Now, Sport Bild’s Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl (via @iMiaSanMia) are reporting that a new contract for Goretzka at Bayern Munich — which would have been ludicrous to think of just a few months ago — could now be back on the table:
A potential new contract for Leon Goretzka is no longer categorically ruled out at FC Bayern. If he continues to perform, Goretzka could be offered a new deal beyond 2026, but with significantly lower terms than the current one.
The midfield situation could be crowded next season with the arrival of Tom Bischof from Hoffenheim. Given that, there could be some movement, so even with these rumors of an extension for Goretzka, it does not mean that anyone — aside of Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlović — should feel totally safe.
