Chelsea have really faded as a force in the second-half of this Premier League season.
Chelsea were considered as title contenders before Christmas, but, since the festive period, the Blues’ trajectory has been poor.
The west London club have been dropping points on a weekly basis, and it’s clear that this squad needs more quality added.
Speaking on TalkSPORT, John Obi Mikel has been discussing Chelsea’s problems, and he’s picked out two signings the club needs to make if they’re going to push on and win the Premier League in the future.
John Obi Mikel picks two signings Chelsea need to make
Mikel claimed that he does believe Chelsea can eventually win the Premier League under Enzo Maresca’s management.
However, the pundit says that Chelsea need to make two signings in order to make that dream a reality – stating that a new goalkeeper and a new striker are needed at Stamford Bridge.
Robert Sanchez has been heavily criticised lately, and Mikel wants to see a new goalkeeper come in.
“Under Maresca, I hope to believe so (Chelsea can win the league). There is an identity now with the way we want to play,” Mikel said.
“However, if you want to in the Premier League you need a top, top goalkeeper, and I don’t think we have that. We need to get a top goalkeeper and we need another top striker to help Nicolas Jackson, now he’s injured we don’t have any other striker.”
Which goalkeeper could Chelsea sign?
Mikel wants a new striker through the door at Chelsea, but, make no mistake about it, a new goalkeeper should be the priority at Stamford Bridge.
Indeed, Robert Sanchez has made too many mistakes this season, and Chelsea need to be in the market for a new goalie as soon as possible.
Luckily for Chelsea, there are a few good options out there at the moment.
Chelsea have been linked with Aaron Ramsdale as of late, while Bart Verbruggen has been linked to Chelsea too.
Both players have plenty of Premier League experience, and if the Blues sign either of those players, they will have an immediate upgrade on Sanchez available to them.
