England kicked started life under Thomas Tuchel with a 2-0 win in their first World Cup qualifier against Albania as Myles Lewis-Skelly and Harry Kane scored the goals.

Tuchel immediately raised eyebrows with his first line-up, however, the surprise inclusions took their chances for the Three Lions.

Linker has now been discussing one of Tuchel’s interesting selections and claims he could now be a strong option for England going forward.

Gary Lineker has been really impressed by Curtis Jones for England and thinks he is playing his way into Thomas Tuchel’s plans for the Three Lions.

The Liverpool midfielder impressed in the German’s first game in charge of England as he started alongside Declan Rice in midfield.

Jones impressed against Alabina as England won 2-0 at Wembley and Lineker has been raving about the 24-year-old.

When discussing England’s midfield options, Lineker told The Rest Is Football podcast: “Curtis Jones, I like him in there. He’s tidy, he’s very technical, he wriggles out of situations and is very confident on the ball.

“There’s a lot of options in that area but I thought when Curtis Jones has had the opportunity I think he’s taken it and that’s what you’ve got to do, to force your manager’s hand.”
