Liverpool is the ‘favorite’ to sign Harry Kane in the summer transfer window, with sensational reports suggesting the Bayern Munich star is eyeing up a return to the Premier League.

The Reds look set to be in the market for a new striker as they look for an upgrade on their current forwards. Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz have all been struggling for form of late, and Nunez in particular looks a good bet for a summer exit after a disappointing spell at Anfield.

Some big names have already been linked – Newcastle’s Alexander Isak has been touted as a possible option, having enjoyed a superb season which included him scoring against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final, while Julian Alvarez’s name has emerged over the past week or so. Nothing quite compares to the latest speculation coming out of Spain though.

According to El Nacional, sources close to Kane have said he is ‘seriously considering’ a move back to the Premier League in order to see out his career in England. What’s more, it’s claimed that Liverpool is the favorite to secure his signature.

Kane of course joined Bayern back in 2023 as part of a $129 million (£100M) transfer from Tottenham. Since making the move to Germany, the England captain has continued his sensational scoring record, having netted 76 goals in 82 appearances.

The 31-year-old is on track to win the first major trophy of his career this season, with Bayern leading the Bundesliga by six points from Bayer Leverkusen. Vincent Kompany’s side is also still in the running for the Champions League, and will face Inter Milan in the quarter-finals next month.

It emerged last month that Kane has a release clause written into his contract at Bayern, with the figure said to be around $71 million (€65M). The former Spurs star though was coy when asked about it.

“What I can say is that I’m very happy at FC Bayern. No comment on the clause,” he told Sky Germany (via GOAL).

Liverpool.com says: If it wasn’t already plainly obvious, you can now definitely tell we’re in the middle of an international break. With just a couple of months to go until the end of the season, it’s peak silly season time in the transfer world.

Kane to Liverpool just isn’t happening, is it? In many ways, he would be the perfect striker for the Reds – a prolific goalscorer who loves linking up play and working hard to win the ball back.

But he’s 31, and as good as he might be, it would be such a short-sighted signing for the Reds. Even with what seems a reasonable enough release clause, Liverpool would surely have to for out a lot for his wages, and his signing would have to yield immediate results in terms of trophies. Absolutely no chance.
