Liverpool have been one of the best teams in the world in recent seasons and they are the current favourites to win the Premier League. However, the club have been knocked out of the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League by PSG and lost the EFL Cup final against Newcastle United. They will want to strengthen their team even more to fight for all titles in the next season.

One area that the club will be looking to strengthen is the left-back position. Andrew Robertson has been the main left-back for the club for quite some time. However, the Scottish international is over 30 years old and is at the fag end of his career. Liverpool will want to get an upgrade to Robertson. Caught Offside has reported that the club are interested in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri. The Algerian has been in sensational form and is also on the priority list of many clubs. He can also feature as the wingback and hence can provide Liverpool with versatility.

Rayan Ait Nouri has conceded 52 goals and kept 4 clean sheets in 28 matches in the Premier League 2024/2025 season. That means when he is on the pitch, his team concedes a goal every 46 minutes. Moreover, the Algerian has made 2.57 tackles and 0.70 interceptions for every 90 minutes he was on the pitch. He has amassed a G/A of 8 so far this season.

Wolves’ Algerian left-back is a breath of fresh air on the pitch. His athleticism and pace make him a constant threat, bombing down the flank with confidence. Defensively, the 23-year-old is sharp—reading the game well and timing his tackles to perfection. Going forward, his dribbling is electric, moving past defenders with a low centre of gravity and quick feet. Ait-Nouri’s crossing isn’t just hopeful; it’s pinpoint, often finding teammates in dangerous areas. Comfortable on the ball, he brings flair and balance to the backline. Still young, his quality of tenacity, skill, and versatility mark him as a star in the making.

Nottingham Forest scout Chérif Oudjani talked about the interest of Liverpool for the Algerian left-back. He feels that it is obvious that the Reds will be interested in him, given that they will be competing in all competitions and need players to rotate in every position. The Wolverhampton Wanderers man has been playing in England since 2020 and has a very good Premier League experience.

“It’s not surprising that the Reds are interested in him. Liverpool will have a busy season in 2025/26, with the Champions League and three domestic competitions. The squad, which shouldn’t change much, will be in demand, given the large number of international players, and the manager will rotate his players. Rayan Aït-Nouri has been playing in England since 2020. He’s played nearly 150 Premier League matches, and he’s young and efficient. It’s no coincidence that he’s on Liverpool’s radar.”

He said to Africa Foot.

How will this move feel for the Reds?

For a Liverpool fan, Rayan Ait-Nouri would feel like the perfect piece for our puzzle. Andy Robertson’s been a warrior at left-back, but with a packed 2025/26—Champions League, Premier League, and cups—the club need depth and a long-term heir. Ait-Nouri’s sensational form at Wolves screams quality: pace, flair, and Premier League nous with nearly 150 games under his belt. Chérif Oudjani is spot-on; rotation is key, and Rayan’s youth and efficiency make him ideal. Imagine him overlapping with Liverpool wingers or spelling Robbo without a drop-off. If Arne Slot grabs him, they would be building a dynasty while keeping the present rock-solid. Exciting times!
