After laying dormant in the January transfer window, Arsenal are expected to make as many as five new signings in the summer.
Arsenal want Martin Zubimendi in midfield but it’s widely reported that the bulk of their efforts will be focused on securing a new number nine.
Amid injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, Arsenal are currently operating with Mikel Merino as a makeshift striker, a less than ideal situation with a Champions League meeting with Real Madrid on the horizon.
And whilst Mikel Arteta’s side have been unfortunate with those injuries, they can be better prepared for next season.
In terms of who new sporting director Andrea Berta might sign, Arsenal are still being linked with a move for Lille striker Jonathan David.
Jonathan David has begun talks with three Premier League sides
Arsenal have long been linked with the 25-year-old and recent reports have suggested that Berta wants to sign David once he arrives at the Emirates Stadium.
Now, Le10 Sport have taken the situation one step further by claiming that Arsenal are in ‘concrete talks’ with David, who will be available as a free agent in the summer.

The Canadian has run down his five-year contract and has decided to seek a new challenge in a few months time.
And according to the report, three English sides are currently in talks with David: Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United.
And in addition, it’s believed that the 25-year-old’s heart is set on a move to the Premier League, even if he also has strong interest from Borussia Dortmund.
David can leave Lille for free after scoring 107 goals
So far this season David has continued his remarkably consistent record at Lille and has netted 23 goals in 41 games, with seven of those coming in the Champions League.
Although it should be mentioned that TBR Football understands that Barcelona were in pole position to sign David, contrary to some of these reports arising from France.
Clearly there is going to be a ton of interest in David this summer who has scored 107 goals in total for Lille since he signed from KAA Gent in 2020.
Arsenal want Alexander Isak if a deal is possible this summer – their number one target.
However, if a deal for the Swede is impossible for Berta and his team, then perhaps the likes of David or Benjamin Sesko could become an option – two cost-effective alternatives.
